DIP YOUR TOE INTO THE WATER

Hello Readers:

I hope this finds you well, wherever you are in the world.

Have you taken a peek at my website, recently.   I try to write at least once a week, so please keep an eye on it.  There could be slight delays from time to time with uploading it.

If you have looked at my book, The Mists of Time, at a bookstore, but didn’t buy it, is this because you don’t usually buy poetry books?   Poetry is a genre, this means a style or category of art, music, or literature.

By looking at poetry, and buying the occasional poetry book that appeals to you, you will be building up your knowledge, and beginning to know what you like to read.  You may be discovering some of the older 18th & 19th Century English poets, like John Keats, or William Wordsworth, or Percy Bysshe Shelley and Lord Byron.  You may also recognise a few American poets of the 19th & 20th Centuries, like Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, Alfred Lord Tennyson, just to name a few.  These are names of poets I’m sure you have heard about or have read their poems.

We all keep learning every day of our lives, in one way or another.  And by selecting a book, any book, we read and learn so many things. Like opera, by gradually entering into this world, we form our own ideas of the various composers and the music that appeals to us.  This is like poetry too.

But time doesn’t stand still, and we move on from the older poets to new poets.  When we browse in a library or a bookstore, we may find a new poet that appeals to us.  Something tells you that you have an affinity with the poetry.  You like the way the poetry flows and tells a story;  and it may invoke good memories of the past.

I hope that you will look at my new poetry book, The Mists of Time.  Try it on for size.  I think you will enjoy the poetry and the stories.  Yes, poems tell stories.   I think I was inspired by the poet, John Keats, and have been writing poetry throughout my life.

So, I hope you will add my poetry book, The Mists of Time, to your bookshelves at home, and once you have dipped your toe into the water, and delved into the poets of a new generation, you will enjoy this new adventure.

I do hope you will buy my book, and enjoy it.

Best wishes,

Anne Hay
