Hello Readers:
Everything is so transient. Everyone is in
such a hurry. There is just not enough time to pay attention to an
issue; heavens knows we have enough issues.
Yes, there are newspapers and TV and all sorts of
video games, and then there is sport. The one thing that people do pay
attention to, is their favourite sport.
Take Le Tour de France, for instance, the 3-week
bicycle race with multiple teams, racing every day through France.
Through beautiful scenery, in all kinds of weather; on flat stages, hilly
stages and the most important stages, in the mountains. This can make or
break a rider. This race has just finished, with great
expectations. It is truly a great advertisement for France, and of course
the teams that participate. It certainly takes endurance.
I have to admit, I watched every stage. I
followed it closely. I enjoy looking at some of the places I’ve been to
and reminisce about. I’m sure that this is the same for you, too.
Now, where am I getting to with all of this, you
might say? I think the answer is ‘expectations’. The
excitement and expectation of the contest and the favourite teams or
individuals you follow. The excitement of winning, and the despair of
loosing; it’s all so emotional.
The end of a sporting event brings us down to
earth, with a thump. What do we do next? Well, this is exactly what
I am asking. I think it is time to get serious, and switch the TV off,
and talk about poetry, after all, this is why I have my website.
I was thinking, that quite a number of famous poets
have written poems about sport, about cricket, tennis and football.
I think this was an outlet for them, because they were miserable at it, and
needed to come to terms with their lack of skills!
My book, The Mists of Time, is a
poetry book; no, I can’t say I’ve ever written a poem about sport. But
you never know! I think you would enjoy the poems; they are often about
love lost, and love found. They also tell a story, and help your
imagination to create a picture in your mind. Could this also be about
expectations, I wonder?
If you are interested in my book, which was
published by Austin Macauley Publishers, April 31, 2021, you can buy it online,
through Austin Macauley, here is their website: https://www.austinmacauley.com/book/mists-time.
You can also write a review from this same website. That would be
great. My book is also available at many other bookstores around
the world.
Best wishes,
Anne
