Magical India

Good Morning Readers,
My trip to India was magical.   New Delhi, The Imperial Hotel, a beautiful hotel where many a famous person has stayed.

New Delhi was a surprise.  A leafy avenue of palatial mansions, consulates and foreign embassies. Garden rooftops in the private sector, blossom with vines, plants and tropical flowers.

Seeing the last footsteps of where Mahatma Gandhi walked, outside his room and down to the bottom of the garden.  This was where he was assassinated in 1948, aged 78.  He did have a premonition about his death.  He was a controversial figure, striving for an independent India.

Beautiful gardens everywhere in New Delhi, tended with loving care.

A country of cricket;  fields in the middle of Mumbai where anyone can play and everyone does.

Amazing palaces and forts, Amber Fort, Jaipur and Mehrangarth Fort, Jodhpur

Hidden gardens of tranquility and healing.

The mystic beauty of the Taj Mahal, all for love.

The polo match at the Rajasthan Polo Club in Jaipur.  Like the old days.

Beautiful handwoven silk carpets and soft goat’s hair pashminas. Such painstaking work with intricate patterns.

Oh, and the people of India, so kind and helpful.

Yes, I can say, India wrapped herself around me and I knew I was on a magic carpet ride from Delhi, to Agra, to Jaipur, to Jodhpur and finally to Mumbai.

The Taj Mahal is definitely the most moving, and mystical building, one can visit, in our world. Everything has been hand carved.  Read and learn more about this beautiful building: https://www.britannica.com/topic/Taj-Mahal

There are many notable writers in India.  The first publishing house, Jaico Publishing House,  was opened in 1946.  They were the first to publish translations from regional languages across India, into English.

There are many Indian writers who write poetry and other genres.  There is a depth to their work, that enters into the mystical and the philosophical.  Spirituality and culture is a part of the story of India and is explained in stories and poetry, down the ages.

I hope you will take a moment to look at my 2 poetry books, ‘The Mists of Time’ and ‘Waking Up to Beauty’.  This website will tell you about myself and my books.  There is so much to write about, and poetry helps us do just that.

You can buy my books at online bookshops, and you can also buy the ePub version. This can be downloaded to your device as soon as you buy it. This is advantageous, because it is instant.

It’s good to be back and writing my blogs again, after a busy year and a trip to India.

Best wishes,
Anne
