READING POETRY

Good Morning Readers:

I hope you are well, and looking towards the autumn and winter months.  Yes, it is a pity summer is over.  Summer is when we feel free and not constrained by the cold.  We want to explore, and go out more, and see the world. We want to be more out-going.

It has been difficult and different all around the world.  Covid 19 has changed our lives and the way we do things.  We are constrained and restricted from the way we usually interact with others.  This brings my thoughts to poetry.

Everyone of us,  is so unique.  We have different life experiences.  Because of these differences, and our individuality, and how we see the world, this is what makes the work of writers of novels and poetry, so unique.

A poet’s work, can be so different from one poem to another.  The story that the poet tells, can be about anything.  Obviously, it is a story that the poet wants to write about, because it means something special to him or her.   It may be  a memory of a special moment.  How the poem is written, will make it enjoyable to read.  Does the poem rhyme, or not?  It doesn’t matter.  Poetry does not have to rhyme, but as you read it, there are certain words throughout the verse that can seem to rhyme, but not  line by line.

Punctuation is very important in poetry.  When we read poetry, there is a particular way in which the poet wants us to perceive and understand the poem.  We read a few words slowly, then there is a comma, to pause a little before reading on,  or a semi-colon, which can connect a sentence that has two parts, giving us a better understanding of the sentence.  So, yes, punctuation is important, whatever you are writing.  Editing your work a few times yourself, before sending  your work into your publisher, is time saving.

I hope you will like The Mists of Time, published by Austin Macauley Publishers, April 30, 2021. I hope it appeals to you, and perhaps it might bring back special feelings, that you have had for a loved one.  Or bring back those special memories, that are just out of sight.

I hope you will find the poems in The Mists of Time, appealing and refreshing.  The poetry will make you think about life in general, and also the mysteries of life and love.
