Good Morning Readers:
There are poets in all walks of life. People can pick up pen and paper and write about the moment they live in, particularly if you are a soldier in a war.
Suddenly, the thoughts start to flow, in a moment of danger, with bombs exploding nearby, somewhere in Ukraine. Then the mind will take over and will create the most poignant lines and verses; poetry that will take your breath away.
The soldier, realising that he needs to tell the world about the sadness of war, the madness of war, the destruction of war, creates poetry that has an enormous impact, and stirs the soul.
Many families die too, or are broken up, when their homes are bombed and loved ones die on the battlefield. Many wives and girlfriends have also written poetry, as this is a very sad time in their lives. In the end, after thousands of people, young, old, babies, wives and soldiers die; eventually, peace must be found. Peace and freedom to live life in a democracy, where one has no fear, to speak out and be heard.
Many poems, from the Ukrainian people, in all walks of life, were written throughout the war. They have been gathered together in an anthology of Ukrainian poetry, which has been published. It is called “Words for War”, - New Poems from Ukraine.
Poetry comes easily to those in pain, in danger and sadness. Each poet wrote a poem, with a sudden inspiration, perhaps it was out of fear of hearing bombs over their house, or a solider, thinking about his family, in the trenches, fighting every day to keep the land that he loves, Ukraine, and seeing a sudden flash in the sky, he wrote down his thoughts so that, one day, someone would read them, and know what was in his heart.
I hope you will think about poetry, and perhaps write some, yourselves. It is a very personal journey, and one I think you will flourish in.
