Update on my Speaking and Book Signing Event - June 20, 2023

I hope you are all keeping well.  It’s been a little while since I have written in my website, but I wanted to update you on my Speaking and Book Signing Event which I held at the Runaway Bay Library, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia on June 20, 2023.

It was a great success with a great audience who had lots of questions.  They were very interested in how I became a poet and how I got my book, “Waking Up To Beauty”, published.  I told them that Austin Macauley Publishers were so supportive and liked my poetry submission, and that the Editorial Board enjoyed my poetry and thought it would make an impression in the market place.  And so, it was published in April 2022.

I spoke a little bit about my journey into writing poetry, and that I had been writing since I was about sixteen.  John Keats was a big influence in my writing.  At the end of my speaking event, the audience flocked around the table and wanted to buy a book or two. The audience loved them, some of the books were bought for gifts for friends. The audience asked me to keep on reading poems from my book.  They really appreciated listening to them.  I knew that poetry was new to some members of the audience, and they were enjoying the experience.

This is a very exciting time in an Author’s life, to have one’s book published.  There are so many emotions swirling around, and excitement of how the public will perceive my work.  I do enjoy speaking about poetry, my poetry and how it came about, and also many other poets.  I like to try to inform an audience and touch on a few other poets, and read their poetry.
